Animal Story Creation in the Classroom
How do we as animal lovers and teachers encourage children’s fiction that is both engaging AND enlightening with regards to animal issues?
Join The UFT Humane Education Committee for a Virtual Story Writing Workshop, “Animal Story Creation in the Classroom,” on January 23, 2021, as we begin to explore the world of animal advocacy fiction writing in the student venue.
Author and publisher Tamira Thayne will dive into the elements of good storytelling as it applies to our animal friends, and how our classrooms can weave thought-provoking content into a story that captures the emotions and imagination.
Tamira Thayne is founder of Who Chains You Books, a publishing company devoted to producing titles by and for animal lovers, rescuers, and animal advocates of all ages. She has written or edited over 15 books for all ages, including “It Went to the Dogs: How Michael Vick’s Dogfighting Compound Became a Haven for Rescue Pups” as well as the Animal Protector series.
Ms. Thayne also pioneered the anti-tethering movement in America, forming and leading the nonprofit Dogs Deserve Better.
